About Hugh

I am a consumer healthcare advocate and editor of this website. This site is dedicated to the truth about healthcare in the United States from the perspective of a healthcare consumer. In the summer of 2009, while the US government and the media were debating the new health care bill, I became intensely curious about the root causes of the USA’s health care woes. I started reading numerous books and articles from subject matter experts who already know how to improve health – at a much lower cost. But because I do not agree with mainstream medicine’s philosophy and approach to solving health issues, namely surgery, drugs, and radiation at the exclusion natural remedies, alternative medicine, etc., my voice, and your voice of reason is ignored, criticized, and even censored or suppressed by very powerful special interests who want to maintain a very lucrative status quo.

Hugh’s Story

I’m a Baby Boomer project manager currently working in the industrial automation and controls industry and like many of the other Boomers, I’ve been working for over 35 years as an engineer and mostly as a project manager.

I grew up in Jacksonville, FL and played sports of all kinds including baseball, basketball, and soccer. We didn’t have computers, laptops, smartphones, gaming consoles, or the internet back then, so as a kid, life was all about playing organized sports, playing neighborhood pick-up games, or studying for school the old-fashioned way – with a textbook. We engaged in many other physical activities including swimming, skim boarding, skating, kickball, stickball, and bike riding. I attended public, Christian, and college prep schools in Jacksonville, FL and after my family moved to central Florida at age 16, I graduated from Lyman High School in Longwood, FL. I finished high school in the top 10% and was accepted to Clemson, Georgia Tech, and Auburn University as an aspiring engineering student.

I chose to attend Auburn and I was a student and co-op student for a little over 4 years including 5 football seasons! War Eagle! I earned a bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree from Auburn and later on I earned a master of science in Engineering Management from the University of South Florida while working at my first job out of school. I’ve always enjoyed engineering design and managing projects, including running charity fundraisers as a brother at Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity.

My work life has included working for Honeywell for 10 years and many other companies including Baker Hughes, Cameron, and Foster Wheeler. As a design and development engineer I successfully contributed to the Space Shuttle and Space Station projects, and after a short stint in manufacturing, I moved to Houston to pursue my project management career in the oil & gas and later the automation & controls industry. I’ve always been involved in controls design or project management in some shape or fashion. I’m detail oriented, disciplined, and responsible.

Why I Want to Help People

My deepest desire is to improve everyone’s health especially in the area of prevention of chronic diseases.

The Goal of This Site

Through my research and application of findings to improve my own health, I’ve discovered the truth about preventing and treating coronary heart disease, cancer, diabetes, and many other common chronic and degenerative health conditions. For example, I’ve learned how to naturally lower my LDL and HDL indicators within the recommended ranges without the use of cholesterol-lowering medications.

Throughout this website, I will share with you these truths and recommend how to use them to improve your health. After all, this is the best way to lower health care costs.

All the best,

Hugh Miller
